  • When this Lunchtime program was offered, I signed up. Why? Because my doctor had just told me my A1C was elevated and I was becoming insulin-resistant. My goal was to lose at least 10% of weight since that’s the recommended amount to lower my A1C.

  • I am so appreciative of Lisa and this program. I never realized “lifestyle change” includes changing your mindset—until taking the classes. I was an athlete in high school and believed until recently that I should be able to do the same things (that’s not happening—I’m nearly 40!!!). Time after time, I got involved in a sport and injured myself by pushing too hard and fast. Lisa’s classes taught me that even the most minuscule steps are still progress. The momentum of small gains began to carry me to much more significant improvement. I became very ill earlier this year and could not swim (my newest passion) for months. Usually, I would have given up and not exercised for months, but I remembered her encouraging SMART goals. Little by little, sometimes annoyingly slowly, I worked back up to my baseline before my illness. I have lost weight and am exercising more overall, but the gift of being patient with myself and the process is the most valuable piece for me.
